“The implementation of ShopSite product has produced trading results way beyond our expectation, says Jewellery Alliance director, Shawn Rudnick. The business initially embarked on its e-commerce endeavours during 2004. The company developed one website, named theshop.com, marketing a number of well-known watch brands, with only nominal success.

It was only when we started taking the Internet more seriously, which was around 2007 that we started to improve. With the assistance of Monetise Marketing, we changed our entire approach to selling over the Internet. They started by reviewing our product range, competition and target market. This resulted in us setting up separate stores for specific brands, aimed at slightly separate markets. For example, we set up thecasioshop.co.za and thecitizenshop.co.za, targeting those specific brands and customers.

Sales started improving almost immediately, due to this strategy, but we knew we could do even better. Monetise then started focusing on the online marketing aspects of the business. They began a process to optimise our visibility with the key search engines, especially Google, and, simultaneously started an Adwords campaign. Since then, we have never looked back!

Our relationship with the Monetise team has grown to a point where they are now an important part of our business. They have delivered excellent service and even better results. The ShopSite product has been extremely flexible and easy to use, and has been able to meet all our product and marketing requirements. We are able to update our product range, change pricing structures, promote ‘product specials”, provide discounts, accept credit card payments, and deliver anywhere in South Africa, sometimes with very special customer requirements, without any trouble at all.

Our sales today in thecasioshop.co.za, far exceeds the sales in our physical retail stores for this product range, and at excellent margins. We are experiencing on-going monthly increases in revenue, from across the country, with very little overhead structure. Thanks to the on-going involvement of Monetise, who we now value as strategic partners, we are making excellent profits from the sales of Casio watches to clients around the country, who are not even aware of our physical retail sites!
